Malawi Against Physical Disabilities (MAP), in collaboration with key stakeholders, successfully commemorated World Clubfoot Day 2026 in Zomba under the global message that clubfoot is treatable and curable when identified and managed early.
The event brought together representatives from Zomba District Health and Social Services, St. Luke’s College of Nursing, Malawi College of Health Sciences, the University of Malawi, HopeWalks, CURE, MAP, and parents of children who have completed clubfoot treatment. Activities included awareness processions, community engagement, and educational sessions aimed at promoting early detection and treatment of clubfoot.
One of the major highlights of the day was the participation of children who have successfully completed treatment. The children joined their peers in football, tug-of-war, and other games, demonstrating that with timely treatment, children born with clubfoot can live active and fulfilling lives.
The commemorations concluded with a renewed commitment from partners to continue raising awareness and improving access to quality clubfoot treatment and rehabilitation services across Malawi.
